Just
a few days arriving from Tokyo, Japan to attend the ASEAN Japan 40
Years Commemorative Summit, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono continues
his diplomacy for regional stability and peace, particularly in the
South East Asia region in regards to the situation in Thailand.
In the midst of preparing for the 10th Annual Consultation with Malaysia which would take place on 19th
December 2013, President SBY received the phone call from Prime
Minister Ying Luck Shinawatra, who wished to express her appreciation to
the President’s personal role and support during the ASEAN Summit
meeting in Tokyo.
After conveying her appreciation, President SBY reaffirmed the hopes of Indonesia for a peaceful political process in Thailand.
“On
behalf of the Indonesian people, I really hope that the problems you
are facing in Thailand can be solved peacefully, democratically, based
on the constitution and the rule of law” President SBY stated
“I support your effort and hope it will be resolved peacefully under your leadership“ SBY added.

President
SBY also conveyed the support of the ASEAN leaders during the ASEAN
Japan Commemorative Summit in Tokyo just a few days ago. Both leaders
promised to keep a open channel among Foreign Ministers and PM Yingluck
promised to continue to updating the situation.
It
was during the ASEAN Japan Summit, President SBY had initiated a
bilateral meeting with the Thai head of Delegation, the Deputy Prime
Minister
During
the closing session of the ASEAN Japan Summit, President SBY had also
approached Prime Minister Hunsen, Coordinator country for ASEAN Japan
relations insisting that Indonesia’s position was to highlight the
importance of encouraging a constitutional and democratic process in
Thailand, especially as the government calls for a general election on
